Troubling News

I was on ESPN.com the other day, and I found that six workers have died working on the Bejing games. China's government, famous for cover ups, seems to be at work once more. It seems like a lot more than six people have died, judging from the reaction of the Chinese government. I'll post more info as a get it.

Dodgers + September = not again

I am all talk.

I claim to not understand why people keep going back into abusive relationships.

I claim that I for the life of me don't understand how people are together if they've been beating each other for the last eight years.

I claim that if I were ever in that situation, I'd get out ASAP.

And it's a load of rubbish.

Every year, I experience a love affair with the Dodgers. Every year they build be up and build me up with the flowers and chocolates of a successfull first five months of the season. And every year my pride is bruised as the days pass in September (no really, it just fell down some stairs! it's all gonna be okay!) But then come April, every April, it's gonna be different! But as a Dodger fan I've come to know that it really won't, but I just have to live with that.

Oh well, there's always next year, although Septemeber comes every year so we're pretty much screwed then too.

Whatever.

Brett Favre

To anybody who believed the rumors about Brett Favre demanding a trade, are you drunk? Listen to this statement, Brett Favre playing for somebody other than the Packers? And I don't have this reaction just because I love the Pack, I have this reaction because I have a brain. More likely, all the other players on the roster would be traded and they'd keep Brett. He's all the team's got and more importantly he's all the town's got.

Roma Manchester United Mess

Now, I am a fan of the Gialorossi, which for those of you not fluent in la lingua del calcio, so to speak, that means I support Roma.

So, of course my view of the embarssment at the Stadio Olimpico is a bit, biased, but I must point out a few details which support the idea that Roma were not at fault for the fan violence.

First of all, both Roma and Lile were made to look like brutes by Manchester United. Maybe this is the fault of Roma and Lile, but at least in Roma's case, there is
video evidencethat then violence was started by Manchester United fans attacking Stadio Olimpico security guards. The gaurds then defended themselves.

Also, although security at Italian soccer stadiums has shamed this year, the Stadio Olimpico was one of the few stadiums that actually did meet standards.

Even if it was started by Roma supporters, could the Man U fans have been bigger jerks? They recieve an offical notice from the team to avoid certain areas of Rome for saftey reasons, and then, contrarty to the agreement settled on by the two teams, 2,000 of them show up at the stadium without police escort?

For more info on the developing story, go to soccernet.espn.com, or go to espn.com and click soccer.

Again!

What in the name of basketball does the NBA have against Kobe Bryant? They suspended him for fouling Marko Jaric on a play that even Jaric said he thought was unintentional! What is wrong with these No Brain Association people?!

Should He Stay Or Should He Go?

Should He Stay or Should He Go?

That was the question pondered by thousands of Chesseheads and humans alike on New Years Eve as Brett Favre played in what may have been the final game in his long and, to say the least illustrious career.

If you ask me, that question really applies to Bears quarterback Rex Grossman.

And he [Grossman] should go now! I can understand no TD passes in a half, (after all Favre didn't throw any in the second half), and I can even understand a three-pick half. Its bad yeah, but at least it has happened before. But a goose egg in the passer rating, and more picks than completions?! Thats an insult to football. Of course, I and the rest of Green Bay took great joy in watching Grossman's gross performance, it was an insult to the sport of football.

Moving on, Favre should stay. He is one victory away from tying John Elway on the all time wins list. And I know, I know, he isn't in this for the stats, but come on. For once in his career, let him be greedy.

He is also seven TD passes away from no. 1. (And like 4 INTS. Hey, Cy Young is the all time leader in wins and losses in baseball)

I also just don't know if the Packers can handle having Favre leave.

But again if Favre doesn't want to, he really doesn't need to. He shouldn't stay if he doesn't want to.

Lets recap our bottom line, which may actually satisfy Packers and Bears alike:
Favre should stay and Rex should go now!

Oh my god

I am lost for words. Rest in peace Darrent Williams.

For those of you who did not know, Williams was shot to death in a drive by shooting. I am really lost for words. This is a tremendous blow to the sport, and the Broncos organization.

What the heck just happened?

I was at a biodesiel workshop all day Saturday, and came home just in time to see the Bruins pick off the Trojans chance at the title. I'm not so pissed about that, after all, it is the first time the Trojans lost to the Bruins in recent memory, but what the heck happened in the BCS?

For three weeks in a row, Michagan was #3 in the BCS, ahead of Flordia, but behind the men of troy. Suddenly, as there studying for finals, the idiots at the Coaches Poll and the Harris Poll decide suddenly, that Flordia is the better team? This is why college football needs a playoff! If USC had won the game, the contreversey still would have been there, but for god sakes, Florida was behind Michigan for three weeks and all of the sudden, they jump ahead?!?!

The idea of the Bull Crap System is to create an objective champ. Thats why the computer polls are weighed so heavily. Computers can't be biased... And the computers had Flordia and Michigan tied!

Let's go over all of the oddities of the weekend...
UCLA 13, USC 9. 66 games ago, the scoreboard at the end of the game had USC losing 10-6 in the Las Vegas bowl. Every game untill now, they scored 20 poitns plus.
Florida #2, Michigan #3. The most troubled portion of the BCS even got this one right, but the human voters messed it up?!

So let's get this straight. Should Florida beat Ohio State, we will finish the season with no 12-0s, and off the top of my head, four one loss teams.

And the pundits say college football doesn't need a playoff.

It's about time!

The Dodgers decided that there putting the names back onto players jerseys. Apparently Frank McCourt really does have a brain! Finally I will once again be able to reciongize the players on the field...Which reminds me, how many are we trading away/giving away this offseason. Hopefully Juan Pierre won't suffer the Dodger's curse, but either way, the Dodgers will have something consistent. If he plays every game, he'll be the first Dodger in god knows how long to do so. If not, the Dodger curse will prove o so consistent.

Ahh, What

Eric Sondhiemer of the LA Times recently wrote a feature story on the Oaks Christian offensive line. The story, which in itself was a waste of space, said that the Oaks Christian line had only allowed the SuperJimmyClassuen to be sacked twice all year. It says, and I qoute, "That's unheardof at any level". It's also an acomplishment for Mr. Sondhiemer's imagination.

The article says that the only two players to have brought down Classuen are Aaron Garcia and Mark Lewis. That is not correct.

On September 28, the Venice High School Gondoliers took the field against the Oaks Christian Lions. On National TV. Viewers of the game saw Kris Woods and Chris Johnson take Classuen down on their own, for a collective loss of 14 yards. According to Sondhiemer (who says he got his stat from an ocstat guy) these two sacks never happened.

Hmm. Y'know thats funny, because I was there and I'm pretty sure they did happen. So is maxpreps.com.

So yes, it is unheardof at any level, and it isn't true at anylevel, to the best of my knowledge.

Come On!

Pali walks off the field with 5:35 left in the fourth quarter! What the heck!? Pack of crazy fools!
Anywho, why in the name of all things football would you forfeit when it is a homecoming game?

To think Moody still had 4 TDs and 100+ yards! Wow.

Next week we got Banning, again. How many will Moody run in against the Piolts in round two? I can't wait

Sheesh, Not Again!

Yes, Again. Another horse has died.

Another broken leg has turned into an unearned death sentance for an innocent animal. Look; I know I sould very unmanly by saying this but horses are beautiful animals, and they need to be respected. Forget that, horses are beautiful athletes and that needs to be respected!

If spirinters suddenly started breaking their legs left and right, they way horses do, there's no way there'd be any money in the sport. Still, we throw our money, again and again at horse racing, cause we wanna see horseys go fast!!!!!

It's really time for a change. All tracks with NTRA races should be polytrack, effective NOW!

Once again, I qoute Bob Dylan, "how many deaths/will it take till we know/that too many [horses] have died?"

State Championship? Ha!

You have got to be kidding me!

California finally gets around to developing a State Championship for High School Football, but it is really nothing more than a very bad joke.

There will be three state champions, because there are 3 divisions, actually six, 3 north and 3 south. That much I have no problem with. But the fact that the divisions are represented by a single team selected only by some arbitary ranking, means that there will never be a cinderella story team. It also means that while Backcountry high, who may very well have a worse team than SuperCathloic High, will never even get to dream. Instead, they'll watch 8-2 SuperCathloic, who had a "stronger schedule" win state while they finished 10-0. California needs a state playoff system. Even if this has SuperCathloic High eventually blowing out BackCountry High, it does allow for a dream.

Even if this High School age bastardization of the BCS develops a lasting regime, it needs to be reworked. If I'm gonna see computer championships, I want to see Concord De La Salle and Oaks Chiristian, the holders of the two longest active win streaks in the state, play for the state title, but no no no. There different different divisions.
